High Honor to 2016 Volkswagen Golf and Jetta Models

The IIHS Top Safety Pick+ is a much sought after award and Volkswagen is immensely pleased to announce it was bestowed just recently on several of its models. The recipients include the 2016 Volkswagen Golf 4-door, the Golf Sportwagen, the Golf GTI 4-door and the Jetta models that are equipped with the Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist) system.

While it may be a mouthful to say, the system uses a camera combined with one or more radar sensors to monitor the distance of any traffic that is in front of the vehicle. The Forward Collision Warning can alert the driver both visually and acoustically to take action in order to avoid a front-end collision. If the driver doesn't begin braking, or brakes too lightly, the system kicks in and takes over autonomously initiating braking.

It's innovative technologies like these that bring accolades to Volkswagen but more importantly, contribute to the safety of Volkswagen drivers and passengers alike as well as the traffic surrounding them.  The IIHS is the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. It started its front crash prevention rating program two years ago in an effort to give consumers a hand and help them figure out the most effective and useful systems to avoid collisions.

It's not everyday that a vehicle earns such an important award and at Byers Volkswagen in Columbus we couldn't be happier to relay this news. There's an old adage that says 'we stand behind' our vehicles, and we certainly do. However, given this news, we can say with confidence, we're 'proud to stand in front of them' too!
