Jetta Kicks It Up with Special Features

A bold line-up of enhancements outfit the 2016 Volkswagen Jetta which is hitting dealer showrooms now. Volkswagen has ramped up connectivity with infotainment technology and boosted driver assistance capability to name a few.

Most 2016 Volkswagen Jetta models will sport the new MIB II infotainment system with USB and VW Car-Net® App-Connect. The system integrates Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay® and MirrorLink® which lets users access apps via their smartphones.

As for driver assistance features, look for Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control and an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System.  The Autonomous Post-Collision Braking System works when airbag sensors perceive an initial collision and begin applying braking pressure. This action helps lessen residual kinetic energy reducing the possibility of more damage to the vehicle(s) involved and the occupants. The entire system is built on the idea that a collision is actually a number of events in quick succession that follow an initial impact. This system is an effort to address the entire event in order to reduce severity.

This year's Jetta also sees an engine replacement. Gone is the 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine found in the S model as well as the 1.8T featured in the SE model. They make way for a 1.4-liter turbocharged direct-injection engine. It produces 150 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, highway fuel economy is boosted by 15 percent according to manufacturer estimates. One last thing to mention here -- Volkswagen now recommends using regular gasoline instead of premium fuel on the 2016 Jetta as well as on the 2016 Jetta GLI. At Byers Volkswagen we know this shift is sure to help our customers economize at the gas pump.
