Volkswagen Passat MIB II Infotainment & Intelligent Crash Response Systems

In addition to its smooth ride, roomy interior and numerous safety features, the Volkswagen Passat offers a the latest in connected car technology to keep you entertained and in the know while you’re on the go, and it also features Volkswagen’s Intelligent Crash Response System as part of the safety systems on board.

Volkswagen’s MIB II infotainment system comes standard in the Passat, which includes Car-Net, a connected car interface that lets the vehicle communicate with Volkswagen to keep track of vehicle performance and issues, maintenance requirements, and can also report vehicle theft. The system also enables navigation via onboard mapping or smartphone navigation functions, and includes Sirius XM TravelLink.

MIB II uses Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and MirrorLink to interface with compatible smartphones, providing access to the apps and streaming you already access regularly using your phone. With MirrorLink, any Smartphone that is MIrrorLink-enabled can connect to the vehicle so you can make the best use of access to navigation and apps. Samsung, Huawei, HTC, LG, and Sony smartphones are all able to use the MirrorLink interface. Depending on the Passat model you select, you’ll find full color 5-inch or 6.5-inch touch screen, one or two USB ports, Bluetooth, a six-speaker or Fender premium stereo system, and satellite radio.

Of course, the Volkswagen Passat includes a number of driver assist and safety features to help avoid crashes altogether. But, should an unfortunate collision occur, the Intelligent Crash Response System will activate to help keep you safe post-accident, and to mitigate and minimize the damage. The system will automatically activate the hazard lights, to warn other upcoming drivers and others nearby about the situation. It will also unlock the doors so you can easily open the doors, or so that emergency personnel can get into the vehicle without assistance, if required. Since a collision can cause damage to fuel lines, resulting in dangerous leaks, the system also shuts down the Passat’s fuel pump altogether.

There are many other systems at work and features you’ll enjoy behind the wheel of the Volkswagen Passat. Let our staff at Columbus Volkswagen show you everything Volkswagen has to offer.
